So I am a Real Techniques brush kinda gal and hold my
hands up and say that I love them.
But I thought after hearing some great things about the
ELF brushes that I would give them a go.
I ordered these online a few weeks ago and have been using
them ever since to see what I thought.
This is what came in this set (website here)
Total Face Brush
Brow & Comb Brush
Eyelash & Brow Wand
Smudge Eye Sponge
Lip Defining Brush
To be honest when I first ripped open the box I was not that impressed with these brushes at all, the bigger brushes looked like the bristles were everywhere and they are not as dense as the RT brushes. But I went ahead and used them that day for applying the face!
I also quickly noticed that they are no where near as soft as the RT brushes,
in fact I disliked them so much that I didn't use the face brushes
and went back to the RT ones.
First impressions of the eye brushes are great. The small sponge one is fantastic for smudging out your eyeliner and the eyeshadow ones are also good at their job.
Don't really use a foundation brush for my foundation so I can't really comment on that one.
Then one morning I was trying to apply my blush and I wanted to use my
Hourglass blush and usually I would use the RT contour brush for this.
I had read on a blog (can't remember which one) that this is a great blush but
they were having problems applying it with a soft brush,
so I used the total face brush from the ELF set and I was in love.
Because it is not such a soft brush it goes on so well with my Hourglass blush.
So after that little find I decided to give the other face brushes a go for powder
and the such like and I have come to the conclusion that although they are
not as soft as the RT ones they are still really good brushes and at a fraction of the price.
My final thought on these is, if you are looking for a good affordable brush then go and get these. They are fantastic for the price and a great everyday brush.
What do you guys think? Any brush brands that you recommend?
Let me know in the comments :)
